Beigu
Neeyo is a ceremony that occurs twice a week at sunrise, on Monday and
Friday. The drummers go to the Chief's residence and sing about the
Chief, past Chiefs, their people's history and proverbs. This was
recorded in the outskirts of Wa, in the far northwest of Ghana on
August 3rd of 2001 by Lawrence Millard. Great drumming on
'talking' drums and excellent example of how African traditions are
still alive today. |
