Armando Rosario is a younger friend and colleague of Papiro, often serving as a back up accordionist when Papiro is either too drunk or has other engagements and cannot show up. The combo formation is very loose, often relaying on neighbor musicians for accompaniment.
His style is somewhat more daring than Papiro’s and he is famous for improvising entire songs in honor of the people contracting him (e.g. TRK 9 Homenage a Giovanni) or simply talking in music about well known figures of the local scene ad lib.
He likes to write his own lyrics and showed me a tightly scribbled notebook full of them. He is also locally well known and appreciated although his dream would be to strike a record deal one day with his own compositions. |
