Trio Balkan Strings performs its original instrumental music, a fusion of many Balkan elements: Serbian, Gypsy, Romanian, Bulgarian, Moldavian, Macedonian, Oriental. Twelve different, authentic compositions on a new CD, all with the finest taste, real presentation of guitar music in Balkan style and arrangement. Seven Grains in the rhythm of 7/8, Cocek in 9/8, Eleven Pearls in 11/8, are World music with specific rhythms and variations. You can recognize Serbian, Macedonian, Bulgarian elements from one theme to another. The names of Macedonian Suite and Romanian Sky speak for themselves. Innocent Heart and Moldavian Gate both have elegy atmosphere, but the second one also has a very virtuoso part which is like a magnet for your ears. Old Railroad with Serbian elements has a wonderful improvisation, too. Peafowlís Dance has classical elements, but also typical Balkan ornaments. Soul is a kind of rumba with interesting guitar passages and sounds Serbian-Greek. Kalea Miniature is a Gipsy variation and, as well as Six Quavers in 6/8, sounds as if it is performed by French Gypsies.
" Trio Balkan Strings dedication to the music of the Balkans and central Europe is inspiring. The guitar interpretations of this music are wonderful. Really good!!! " John McLaughlin.
